| For a longer time I fought with the thermometer. I haven't won yet, but we're half way through. The thermometer itself was nice, but the sender unit was cut off and the sheathing of the capillary was rusty and had holes. For the repair, all had to be soldered out: I removed the casing, to check how the unit was built. That allso gives me the opportunity to adjust the integrated switch. The new sender, later placed in the water jacket and containing the ether, was made from copper tubing. For that I rolled one end with a piece of metal... ..and finished it on the lathe. If anyone wonders how that works, check "metal spinning" on youtube: An adaptor for the capillary was made of brass: To replace the old sheathing; I used the wire core of a welding machine... ...and soldered it. Let me tell you, that stuff doesn't solder like brass at all. It took a lot of flux and a little magic : Now with the adaptor for the 3/8" of the flathead: The opposite end, with wich the sender will be filled, and that is soldered to the instrument afterwards: | |

| The grill shell got a little bit of new paint, too: After that I filld it up with water to try it out, but the motor had a leakage at the head bolts. I hope and suppose its just water going through the screw holes from the water jacket and no leaking head gasket. Also my starter won't make it for long. Possibly the brushes are weak, or it really doesn't like the 12V. | |

| Much didn't happen for a long time now. I had a little shock experience when I fired up the Motor with water and created a real life geysir, but it showed it was nothing to worry about, supposingly just some trapped air. Allso I chopped out all the crossmembers of the frame to get it wider. Well, I just drilled out the rivets, but that was some work i can tell you. Last week I transported the motor to the frame, waiting 30km from here and after some cleaning up the garage, I could do a little mock up, to get an idea of how it could look like. The radiator needs to come down about 10cm, the body will come a little up, I guess. I really need to get startet on the frame and since Christmas is coming, there might be some troubles getting the material for it in time. The problem is, I will have to get a TÜV certificate and that involves some ridiculous rules. Here's just a little impression: | |
